Famed American doctor and best selling author Ben Carson was in Eldoret for a one-day philanthropic activity on October 31.
Ben who is a neurosurgeon and the Director of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Maryland operated on patients at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital, Eldoret, aided by other medical professionals.
The 59-year-old’s life story has been read widely on three of his autobiographical and personal philosophy books Think Big, The Big Picture and Gifted Hands.
Dr. Carson also pioneered the hemispherectomy (the surgical removal of the affected half of the brain) in cases of Rasmussen's encephalitis (a rare inflammatory neurological disorder) in children.
