Russell Brand dined alone late last night in Los Angeles while trying to gather his thoughts ahead of a meeting with his estranged wife.

The British comedian flew to America earlier this week and moved into his new $1.9million bachelor pad but he will meet up with Katy Perry for the first time since they announced their split.

The comic actor ate out at Boa Steak House last night, dressed in a smart grey blazer and black skinny jeans but was by himself in the restaurant.


The 36-year-old will have an emotional showdown with Katy, 27, to discuss their separation and finalise the impending divorce.

However, a source close to the Firework singer claims that she wants to fight to save her 14-month marriage and desperately wants to get back together with the long haired funnyman.

The source also said that Perry is not ready to start dating any other men and has not been influenced by her Christian parents, Mary and Keith Perry, who are keen to see her date someone more religious.

Russell is due to attend tonight's Golden Globes ceremony and so the timing to meet up with his wife was perfect as he was going to be in the area anyway.

But while Katy reportedly wants to sort things out, Russell is ready to move on and wants nothing more than to get some closure on the whole situation.

They will meet at a Beverly Hills hotel, where Katy has been staying, and a close friend told The Sunday Mirror they have very different aims for the rendezvous.

The pal said to the newspaper: 'He has agreed to meet her one last time. He wants to sort things out and finalise the divorce.

'But Katy says she is still in love with him and she still has hopes they might get back together.'

Despite recent reports that her Evangelical parents have been pushing her to date Christian Denver Broncos NFL star Tim Tebow, 24, they have been in contact with their son-in-law.

The source said: 'Keith and Mary have also been reaching out to Russell and sent him a text telling him he is in their thoughts and that they love him.'

Russell, who once battled a drug addiction, has been continuing along with his wife as normally as he can.

Yesterday afternoon he was spotted heading to a yoga class with a friend, although he wasn't dressed for exercise.

Carrying a white towel and a bottle of water the comedian wore skinny jeans, boots and a leather jacket while hiding his face behind sunglasses and a beenie.

Katy has rarely been seen but was spotted sporting a new blue hair colour when she posed for a picture with a fan earlier this week.

While Russell will attend tonight's glitzy ceremony Katy avoided turning up to the People's Choice Awards on Thursday.

She won five awards and told fans afterwards: 'THANK U to every1 who voted for me for the @peopleschoice tonight! We won so many! Now I need to get more books 2 successfully display them!'

If the divorce goes ahead Perry will reportedly hold onto the $6.5 million property, which they bought together last July, just months after wedding in India.

And now a video has emerged of Russell Brand taking off his wedding ring, just two weeks after his first wedding anniversary with Katy Perry back in November.

Brand posted the video on porn website Nudevista as he began a week-long tour of various universities in America.

In the video, Brand is seen saying: 'I am going to meet people from sororities and fraternities. I don't know what a sorority is except for what I have seen on Nudevista - that they are sort of sex clubs for women.

'A week of revolution and, more importantly, I am going to learn first-hand about sororities.'

Brand is then seen taking his ring off in full view of the camera, before adding: 'I'm just going to place this somewhere very, very safe for the next week.'

Since filing for divorce from Perry on December 30, the British comedian has remained resolutely silent on his Twitter page.

However, estranged wife Perry came forward over the weekend to thank her fans for their support in the difficult times.

She wrote: 'I am so grateful for all the love and support I've had from people around the world. You guys have made my heart happy again.'

Perry also pulled out of what was scheduled to be her first public appearance since the split at the People's Choice Awards, writing her apologies on Twitter.

But new claims have suggested Perry is considering flying into the UK in a bid to resolve things with her former spouse.

'She told Russell that if he'd agreed to marriage counselling, they wouldn't be in this mess and tried to persuade him to fly back to the States and meet her.

'She's now considering jetting to the UK as she's desperate to see him and talk to him.

'She said she can't stand that everything has been done over the phone and says she needs to see him before she can truly accept it's over.'

Katy Perry's religious parents have managed to see something positive in the breakdown of their daughter's one year marriage.

The pair spoke about their daughter's divorce for the first time - from the pulpit of their evangelical church which was unusually packed it seems.

And the ministers suggested her split with Russell Brand was a gift sent by God - to help them fill churches.

The service was held yesterday, as removal containers were seen in the grounds of the celebrity couple's $6.5 million Hollywood Hills mansion, ready to cart away their belongings.


Mary, 63, preached to the Church on the Rise congregation in Westlake, Ohio: 'I'm sure that Katy's trending on the Internet was to get you here to church tonight.

'I mean all over the world, who knows how God is bringing them in? The most important thing is you are here and God wants to put the fire in you in 2012.'

She and husband Keith, 63, billed themselves as 'Katy Perry's parents in marketing materials for the event, reported CNN.

A friend said: 'Russ was forever making lewd jokes at the dinner table and poking fun at her parents' beliefs.

'He managed to restrain himself in the beginning — just. But as the marriage progressed, he got worse and kept winding up her family.'

Another added: 'After the lust wore off, reality hit home about their differences and she was left thinking, 'What have I done?'

Other rumours say the split was because Katy couldn’t keep up with Russell’s appetite in the bedroom, and he disapproval of her party lifestyle.

Russell, 36, has reportedly been uninvited from the People's Choice Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday to avoid a confrontation with Katy.

She is expected to make her fist appearance since the split at the show where she is nominated for seven awards, including Favourite Female Artist.

A source told the Daily Mirror: 'It will be Katy’s big night, a prelude to the Grammys, and now Russell has been strangely left off the list of attendees for the high-profile event.

'It was always going to be awkward for organisers in any case after their shock decision to split. But in order to avoid any awkwardness or confrontation Russ is no longer on the list.'

She is said to be holed up in the LA home she shared with Russell, which they purchased in June.

The comedian-turned-actor has been seen on a number of occasions since releasing a statement about the divorce, and was yesterday spotted leaving his manger's home in Primrose Hill, London.

The couple, who were married in India October 2010, spent Christmas thousands of miles apart, with Katy in Hawaii and Russell in Cornwall.

They were both pictured without their wedding rings.

He filed for divorce on January 30.

Meanwhile, a new song has been leaked in which Katy sings about shooting bad lovers. Recorded before the split, Bullet, tells how her dad will gun down men who break her heart.

She sings: 'My mama warned me about boys like you,

'It’s the reason I wear these high-heeled boots.

'And let me give you a little piece of advice.

'My papa packs heat and he won’t think twice.'

Katy wrote it for US country singer Jessie James, 23, but it is her voice on the leaked version.

The comedian, 36, was spotted on a solo shopping trip in London after spending Christmas 7,000 miles apart from his wife Katy Perry.

He happily soaked up the love from fans during his outing and even posed up for a photograph with a delighted blonde shopper.


But the Arthur star's sparkling diamond band, which matches the singer's wedding bling, was noticeably absent from his left hand.

Katy was not wearing her ring either while holidaying in Hawaii over the festive season.

The couple decided to spend Christmas apart after huge argument, it has been claimed.

A source is quoted as telling Us Weekly magazine: 'They had a massive fight. She was like, "F*** you. I'm going to do my own thing."

Meanwhile the source said that Russell replied: 'Fine, f*** you too.'
The source added: 'They haven't split up just yet, but things are not good. The fighting is getting worse.'

Katy, 27, was seen lapping up the fine weather in Hawaii on December 25 with a group of friends while comedian Brand was seen in a pub in Cornwall, England.

The 36-year-old comedian and his 27-year-old pop star wife couldn't keep their eyes off each other as they attended the 3rd Annual Change Begins Within Benefit presented by The David Lynch Foundation at the LACMA in Los Angeles.


Gazing at one another, the two appeared smitten.

Katy also took the opportunity to show off her more golden hairdo.
