I was supposed to be in the DC area this weekend, staying at the in-laws' place and visiting a friend who was in town with her newborn son. Was all set to catch a 2:30 Amtrak train near my office, pick up The Husband an hour later at Penn Station, and then continue on to DC. At around 11 AM, I started having a mild panic attack as my office phone never stopped ringing, the emails were piling up and for every issue that got resolved, two more would spring up out of nowhere. By 1 PM, it became very apparent that my departure would need to get postponed until Saturday morning. By the time I got home from work Friday night, The Husband convinced me that spending $130 per person for the changed one way train ride to DC Saturday morning was ridiculous, not to mention we'd only get about 20 hours to be there in total. So, we scrapped the trip, and here I am.
On the bright side, I started reading A Game of Thrones, the first book in a series by George R.R. Martin. The Husband has gotten all caught up in this series and is counting down the seconds until HBO premieres this series tonight. Since he's neck deep in Caps playoff season right now and won't speak to me unless I'm standing in front of him and the TV screen, getting into AGOT at this point, will be my only chance to interact with him until the NHL playoffs end 6 months from now. Ok, 6 weeks of playoffs, but it's already been about 6 months since this damn season started. I've gotten to page 72 of the first book and The Husband tells me that it's all I need for tonight's episode. I'm not usually a Lords, Castles and Kings kind of person, but I think these series is like the male version of the Twilight Series...AGOT being filled with tons of characters, direwolves and sword fights.
American Idol was epic once again this week. Casey Abrams's performance was by far the most unique and creative performance I have ever seen in any season of this show. Then his duet with Haley Reinhart during the results show was completely astounding as well. Lauren Alaina and Scotty McGreery were incredible as well. Jacob Lusk is powerful every time he sings. We unfortunately had to say goodbye to someone this week, and it was Paul McDonald and his white teeth. Don't feel too bad for him - he's dating Nikki Reed, the actress from the Twilight movies. I missed Pia this week, but heard she's doing just fine dating Mark Ballas and signing a record deal. What a busy week for her!
As for Bach news this week - it's been relatively quiet. Andrew Firestone's wife gave birth to a daughter. Vienna Girardi ("winner" of Jake Pavelka's season and now ex-fiance of Jake) went very public in her relationship with Kasey (Guard and Protect Your Heart) Kahl. She's calling him the real deal - he's nice to her even when the cameras aren't rolling. How romantic! Chris Lambton (runner up from Ali F's season) was hanging with his girlfriend Peyton in North Carolina last week, then took the bus from Boston down to NYC to hang with Gia Allemand (can't stand her, not sure why on earth he's hanging with her. If I was Peyton, I would not let this fly). Chris L went to Nobu with Gia for sushi and tweeted his way around the city. Ali Fedotowsky landed a gig participating in a weekly talk show on the Style Network. The pic above of Ali and Roberto Martinez was taken last week in San Diego - Ali claims she will take Roberto's last name when they get married, probably later this year.
If you have any interest in seeing DeAnna Pappas and Stephen Stagliano's wedding engagement photos, check them out here:
Pappas photosAnd for all of those wondering what the progress is of her planned double wedding with Stephen's twin brother Michael Stagliano (from Jillian Harris's bachelorette season) - the double wedding is done. Michael and Holly Durst broke off their engagement. As of April 14th, it sounds like they are still dating, but they are no longer engaged. DeAnna has refused to publicly comment. Rumors are circulating that Michael Stagliano and Holly will appear on Bachelor Pad 2 together to stir up some drama. The good news out of all of this is that DeAnna and Holly must have stopped spending so much time together and dressing in identical clothing. I was starting to get the creeps seeing the four of them hang out together all the time, particularly when Holly dyed her hair dark to look like DeAnna. YIKES.
