Never mind I'll find somewhere like you... Adele moving out of London over fears that the smog is harming her voice

On the move: Adele is looking for a new home in the country after being told that the London smog may harm her vocal chords

Multi-award winning songstress Adele is planning to move out of London due to fears that the pollution levels could damage her voice.

The 23-year-old is reportedly looking for a new home in West Sussex, to aid her recovery from throat surgery for a hemorrhaged vocal cord last month.

It is an ironic twist of fate, considering Adele's first hit in 2007, Chasing Pavements, included the lyric: 'I like it in the city when the air is so thick and opaque.'

'The operation went well but she still needs to take good care of herself' a source told the Mirror.

'Adele is a London girl through and through, but she’s never been particularly into the showbiz circuit so when it was suggested she move out of the city, she agreed immediately.'

Tottenham-born Adele is said to be looking at properties priced between £2 and £3million.

The singer was operated on in Massachusetts by the same US doctor who treated Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler.

'The idea is for her to live in the countryside, away from the capital’s smog and pollution.'

'She’s desperate to be fit for the Grammys and be back singing as soon as possible,' the source continued.

Adele updated fans on her progress via her website after the surgery, writing: 'The operation was a success and I’m just chilling out now until I get the all-clear from my doctors.'

The singer-songwriter’s second album 21 swept everything before it.

From humble origins — romantic heartbreak, drunken diary ramblings and a discovery of country music prompted by a bus journey through North America, 21 became a juggernaut.

Hurtling towards its four millionth sale, it is the tenth best-selling LP this country has ever seen. It also topped the U.S. charts and saw its maker shortlisted for six Grammys.

Rolling In The Deep was the top-selling digital song sold this year, and has sold more copies than any other song in a calendar year in digital history.

To date, the Grammy-nominated single has sold 5,572,000 copies.

Adele was forced to cancel tour dates and promotional appearances in the U.K and the U.S for the rest of the year due to her illness.

A spokesman at the Massachusetts General Hospital said she underwent vocal chord microsurgery to stop recurrent bleeding from a benign polyp.

The condition is usually caused by unstable blood vessels in the vocal cord that can rupture.

The hospital added that Adele went to Boston to undergo the surgery with Dr Steven Zeitels, director of the hospital's Voice Centre.
