Former Bachelor Gets Engaged...

Remember Aaron Buerge? He was the second Bachelor ever and ended up picking that nice girl Helene something, who was from Jersey and kind of like a "girl next door" type. They broke up a long time ago, but Aaron has finally seemed to met his match:

After the Final Rose

It's After the Final Rose.

Melissa Rycroft makes an appearance. She's got much longer hair and thinner eyebrows since we saw her last. They replay the awful dumping by Jason Mesnick of Melissa (just so we can feel aggravated and awkward one more time). Chris basically asks of Melissa what everyone in the universe knows already: she got a call from Dancing with the Stars days after the Jason fiasco. Then she got engaged to her boyfriend, Ty. Is it me or did Melissa look MUCH better on the last After the Final Rose when she got dumped? Maybe it's her hair that I don't like. Ehhh, she's still a beautiful girl and agrees that Jason really did make the right choice (what else is she supposed to say?).

More depression commercials on now... what is up with these? I just asked the Fiance if he's ever had suicidal thoughts (which is one of the possible side effects of a medication for depression). There really must be a depressed group of people who watch this show.

Ok, back to the show. Kiptyn is brought out. Wow, he's really cute, and seems immediately smiley. The mostly female audience goes wild. They replay last night's rejection, which is kind of tough to watch. Kiptyn describes how tough getting rejected was. They bring Jillian out and she's got longer, darker hair and is wearing a cute little white dress. Kiptyn asks what he could have done differently. Jillian says he didn't do anything wrong - there were some times that she was fishing. Jillian gets emotional and tears up at hearing Kiptyn talk about his emotions. He says he holds no ill will for her and hopes that he'll find his own true love. Kiptyn seems very calm and collected. He is able to articulate his feelings. You can tell he really liked Jillian, but he doesn't seem head over heels anymore. Maybe that's just his personality. I wonder if he'd make a boring bachelor.

Side note: if this show was pre-taped a couple of days ago, then wouldn't the entire audience already know what the ending was ahead of the airing of the finale? I wonder if they made them sign a confidentiality agreement. But you know at least one of them had to of leaked the news. Or maybe they had them all on lock down.

We're back and it's Reid's turn. His hair is still really messy and Alfalfa-like, with a large spike in the back sticking up. The woman are going nuts in the audience. They replay his moment of coming back to tell Jillian that he loves her and to propose. Then they show his limo ride after where he's really upset and looks like he had a bottle with him in the back seat. We learn that Reid bought his own ring (which he sadly/sweetly says, "was not the greatest ring in the world"). Jillian had no idea that Reid was coming and Reid thought that Jillian was going to accept the proposal and he feels like a piece of his life is missing. So sad. I like Reid. He'd make a much more interesting Bachelor than Kiptyn and he definitely seems heartbroken - even more so than the Kipper.

They bring Jillian out and Reid asks whether there was a part of her that wanted to say "yes." Jillian immediately gets emotional and completely avoids the question by saying that she feels really bad. Chris H, the always subtle host, asks Reid if he still loves Jillian. He says yes. So sad. Reid asks her if he had told her earlier that he was in love, whether that would have changed anything. Jillian says that she was so in love with Ed, and she's been so happy the last couple of months, she knows she made the right decision. Reid seems to get a bit testy by saying he's got "lots of questions" including one about the fantasy suite. You can tell that Reid is not into Ed or at least not into Ed and Jillian. One audience member asks whether Reid is dating again and whether he'd like to go on a date with her. Both and Reid at the same exact time said, "How old are you?" Even though she looked like she was 10, at least Reid knows there are other people out there.

They bring Ed out and he looks so happy, so good! He looks totally relaxed and they are practically glowing. They replay the whole proposal and a woman in the audience is crying! This cracks me up. A woman in the audience asks him about his mankini shorts. Jillian says she loves them. Another audience member asks whether they are having any problems in the bedroom. Who on earth asks that? Luckily, we're all relieved to learn that they are ok. Ed and Jillian probably kiss about 50 times during their interview. They show some never before seen footage when the two of them were in Spain. A Spanish man tells them that if they walk under some arch, they will be married. They go under it. Yippee!!

We also learn that the two of them plan to marry within 12 months and that Jillian is moving to Chicago starting in September. Interestingly, ABC does not give them a gift, like they normally do for happy couples. Maybe they think it's a jinx.

So there we have it. Another season come and gone. But this time will we see a lasting happy couple? I sure hope so. Clearly - Jillian and Ed look extremely happy together. That leaves us with the potential next Bachelors being Kiptyn, Reid, Jake or Michael Stag (and his twin). I didn't like Reid's bitterness toward the results/Jillian on tonight's show. I know he was still upset and hurt, but still, he could have handled himself better. He basically said that Jillian seems happy (though he can't understand why) and she made her choice. He shouldn't have brought up the fantasy suite comment, but I guess that's what bitterness does do a person.

ABC did not announce who the next Bachelor is - they are probably waiting to see what the general feedback on each of the remaining men is. As long as it's not Dave, I think it'll be a good choice.

So that's all for now. Keep checking back here for updates. Our podcasts will continue as well - and discuss all the Bachelor gossip, our wedding plans (and gripes), and basically anything else that comes up. Hope you'll keep us posted on your whereabouts as well. Til next season, Bachelor fans...have a good night and a great rest of the summer!!

In Case You Missed Last Night's Show...

The ratings from last night's finale were so good, that ABC is re-airing the finale tonight followed by the After the Final Rose. 11.5 million viewers in the last half hour of show! Not bad.

There's also a rumor on Twitter that Michael Stagliano is interested/having a fling with Holly Durst, former girlfriend of Jesse Csczinak, former fiance of DeAnna Pappas, former Bachelorette. They met in Vegas at a reunion of everybody. If that's true, he won't be the next Bachelor :(

The Reid BandWagon

Ahhh, it hasn't even been 24 hours since last night's finale, and I have been flooded with emails, phone calls, texts and even a couple of in-person visits at work from individuals (mostly Jewish women), irate that Jillian did not pick Reid. Let's discuss this a little.

I like Reid. He seemed like a good guy. He was just quirky enough to be real, had a nice family, a good job, seemed to really have some strong chemistry with Jillian and was able to finally verbalize to her how he felt. I happen to like Ed, but for those that don't, they think that he was a bit dull, that his job would always take priority, that he kind of looked rabbit-ish (I'm quoting from one of my readers), and that he never should have left Jillian in the first place. I think ultimately, in the end, Jillian had 3 wonderful options to go with. I'm not sure it would have been a HUGE mistake to pick any of them. When it comes down to it, Jillian had to pick the person with whom she felt the most chemistry - for long term. There was never doubt to me that Ed was that person. She lit up like a firefly whenever he was around. He was very clear on how he felt about her once he came back. He was going to propose, he was in love with her, he wanted to grow old with her. That's what Jillian came on the show looking for, and that is what she got.

Now for all of those women who are upset that Reid's marriage proposal was not accepted, think about this: What if she had said yes right away? That would have been too creepy considering the day before she was making out with Kiptyn, and at that very moment she was waiting for Prince Charming Ed to come and propose to her. Now what if she had said that she needed to think about it, and put off her decision until After the Final Rose. This would have been way too annoying a result for the audience. People would have scoffed at this decision, calling Jillian a flake, and saying that if Reid could throw off her decision that easily, then maybe her feelings for Ed weren't real. I think we all saw what validated our general favorable opinion of Jillian: she was head over heels for Ed, and while momentarily disrupted by Reid, she stayed the course of her feelings. She's sensible, consistent and mature (minus the Wes thing, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt).

The other thing that was kind of strange was Reid's appearance when he actually showed up. He was in sneakers, an untucked shirt, a suit jacket that did not match the pants and hair that was all over the place. He was sweating like crazy and was not exactly articulate. Where did he come from? And what kind of strings did he have to pull to get there? Did this involve getting dressed in the dark and running a marathon before he arrived? Poor, sweaty Reid! The trip from Philly to Hawaii must have been a bitch to get through, but not nearly as long as the plane flight home as a twice rejectee of Jillian's!

Reid will be fine. He will go home, where he is definitely loved by his family, return to his job and be hit on by lady after lady in the Philadelphia area. I have no doubt that his rejection last night might actually raise the real estate market activity in the Philadelphia area. Everyone will want to use Reid's family's services. He will find a nice, quirky lady and he will not hestitate to tell her how he feels.

As for Kiptyn, he will be fine too. I'm sure his mother has his next 50 dates lined up for him (clearly she'll be taking a commission). He finally received his first taste of rejection. I'm glad Jillian did not let him propose (I'm sure she knew it was a possibility, and one situation she wanted to avoid - especially after all of the heat that DeAnna Pappas received for allowing Jason Mesnick to propose and stay on his knee for a bit before she rejected him in favor of Jesse). Kiptyn is a great guy too, and it looks like he may be the next bachelor (although a lot of fans are calling out for Mike Stagliano and his brother to be joint-bachelors. That would be a hoot. They would totally swap clothing/dates during the beginning rounds, and play pranks in frat style on the ladies. It would definitely be a more entertaining Bachelor than what we've seen in a while. Kiptyn always seems a little stiff to me, and his chemistry was not as free-flowing and natural as Jillian had with other guys. Even when he was confessing that he wanted her to live with him in San Diego, I didn't really feel like he truly believed it - it felt more of what he thought he should say to get the girl.

Ed, on the other hand, tried so hard to memorize his speech, was very open and honest about how he felt about Jillian from the start, and even had the smarts to fly his parents in to meet Jillian (or was that ABC offering?) and get Jillian's dad's thoughts on a proposal. All of these rumors that Ed had a girlfriend or two back at home - even if they were somewhat true before he left, I doubt hold any water at this point. The boy is head over heels.

Now I say this and I have no idea if Jillian is going to come on tonight's show and pull a Jason Mesnick (i.e., dump Ed and confess to Reid/Kiptyn (you choose) and declare she's in love with him). Now THAT would be an interesting twist. Though we haven't heard any rumors to this effect and since rumors are always true, I guess it's not happening. I really hope that Jillian and Ed are the next Trista and Ryan. I would love to watch their wedding on TV. I hope that I'm invited. This will never happen.

In case you were wondering about Jillian's rock from last night: http://tvwatch.people.com/2009/07/28/the-bachelorette-all-about-jillians-ring/ - holy $60,000 ring, that I am sure Microsoft, I mean Ed, did not pay for. ABC got engaged!

Also, if you are interested in any of the jewelry (besides the Neil Lane bling) that Jills was wearing on last night's show, check out this site: www.stelladot.com/jenniferatterman On her final Hawaii date w/ Kippy she's wearing the turquoise sea drop earrings (only $29) and that night the Kelly Cuff in Black.

Finale: 2.5 Proposals, 2 rejections and 1 Fiance!!! It's ED!!!!!

We made it, Bachelorette Fans!!! Congrats on sticking in there long enough to make it to tonight's finale. I left work an hour early to mentally prepare for tonight. The Fiance is back to watch with me. Hooray!

We start out at the Big Island of Hawaii at the Westin. We get a brief recap of the season (yawn...let's get to the good stuff). Jillian first has a date with Ed. Initially they sit down and Ed reassures her that his fantasy suite issues (which we still are not very clear on) are a thing of the past. They go to meet Glen and Peggy, Jillian's parents. Cousin Tory and Grandma Marjorie are also there.

Ed explains to the family that he used to be married to his job. That he left and came back. Ed has gorgeous green eyes that I don't think I noticed before. Peggy starts drilling Ed with tough questions to which he gives satisfactory responses. Jillian privately tells her mother that she is not worried about Ed's feelings for her. She seems very relaxed and calm. Ed says straight out that he wants to propose to Jillian. Ed asks Jillian's father what he thinks should he propose to her and the dad says he'd be thrilled. Ed and Glen put on some grass skirts and coconut boobs and do some hula dancing with the girls. It looks like the family meet and greet has gone successfully.

It's the next day and it's Kiptyn. He greets her in nasty turquoise plaid. Where on earth did he get this shirt? At a cattle ranch? He's still very cute though, so that's ok. Jillian is wearing a yellow top on both of her dates and looks very happy and tan. Kipper and Jilly just make out. He brings her back to the house to meet the whole family. Kiptyn says he's a "work hard, play hard" kind of guy. When Jillian lists the things she likes about Kiptyn, it sounds like she's selling him. "He's cute, he is close with his family, he volunteers..." Maybe he should hire her after the show is over to be his PR rep. The mom thinks that his personality is much more like Jillian.

The dad asks Kippy whether he's in love with Jillian. Why he can't simply just answer "yes," he Hdoes say that down the road, he can see having a life, marrying and having children with Jillian. But it doesn't sound like he is actually in love currently. Kiptyn said he would never propose unless he was 100% sure. After the meet and greet, Jillian and Kiptyn kiss and make-out some more.

Once again, there are two remaining contestants and the bachelor/rette is confused. Shocker. Jillian seeks feedback from her family. Her father tells Jillian that Ed asked permission to marry Jillian. Dad is kinda leaning toward Ed and Mom is kinda on Kippy's side. I think Tory could be the next Bachelorette. She's hot and seems nice. The kind of person you want as your friend. Jillian pulls Tory aside to get some girlfriend advice - she confesses to Tory that her night with Ed was not so hot. Why do we keep hearing about this? It's totally to confuse us that she's not absolutely head over heals for him.

Ed says he wants to "seal the deal" with Jillian. She picks him up in a red jeep and takes him to a helicopter. This must be some kind of record for the amount of helicopter rides in one season. In his sweaty, 70s style tank top, the two start making out. They land in a jungle area and walk to a waterfall in the middle of a rainforest. They start making out in the middle of the jungle. At one angle, it looks like her hair is on fire, until I realize there is a lit torch behind them. Phew, I was worried the shocking ending would be that Jillian had second degree burns!! There is a nice little setup of lunch in front of them. They start making out again and Ed calls Jillian beautiful and a "genius" for keeping him around. These two could be in a prison and think it was romantic. They go into the waterfalls area and swim and kiss. There's a lot of pressure for them to be passionate.

Later that night with Ed, we learn (thank goodness) that the sexual chemistry is back on. OH YEAH. Cheesy enough - ABC then pans to the volcano exploding. How poetic.

Next we're up to Kiptyn's date and Jillian and him take a motor boat ride to a private beach in Hawaii. They make a little picnic on a surfboard. Jillian goes on and on about how perfect Kiptyn is. She's either buttering us up for her picking him or is campaigning for his candidacy to be the next Bachelor. They hang out on a surfboard in the ocean and just hug and make out. Personally, I would have gotten seasick, 20 minutes into this surfboard hanging, but that's just me.

It's nighttime and Jillian's greets Kiptyn in a strapless purple dress. Kiptyn tries to explain to her as Jillian just gazes into his eyes that he'd be really hurt if he lost her. He says he knows he's moved a little slower but now he's full steam ahead. He basically tells her that he's ready for it all: love, marriage, children, etc. Kiptyn tells Jillian that he's falling in love with her and that he would like for her to come live with him in San Diego. As they lie in bed with glasses of wine, kissing and staring at each other, I say to the Fiance, "I don't know. Maybe she does pick Kiptyn afterall. I mean really - there are no doubts about him."

The Fiance's response: "Don't kid yourself. It's Ed all the way."

It's the morning of the big day. Jillian wakes up and thinks about her two remaining men. She says she worried that on the last day she wouldn't know who to choose - but she says that she knows. We see Kiptyn going ring shopping and then out of nowhere he's going for a jog on the beach in an equally ugly pair of plaid khaki shorts (who runs in long khaki shorts?). His chest is glistening in the sun and he's tanner and hotter than ever. Now I know he doesn't win. This is all part of the hoopla to make him the next Bachelor. Would NOT be surprised if this is announced tomorrow night.

Next Ed goes into Neil Lane and picks a winner. Both guys are talking about how devastated they'll be if Jillian doesn't pick them. We see Kiptyn shirtless from like 30 different angles.

Jillian gets dressed in a beautiful strapless, sweetheart neckline white gown. She's already got the dress - they should just get married. Everybody is in a limo, on their way to find out what the hell is going on. Both men say that they want to spend the rest of their lives with her.

Jillian arrives at a gorgeous house and walks across a wooden platform over the pool, awaiting her men. I can't believe they would wait for this moment to reintroduce Reid. I mean - come on, isn't there a cut-off for letting him come back? I like Reid, but how on earth does he stand a chance right now?

The first limo pulls up and Kiptyn in a navy suit comes out of the limo. OH NO. It's not KIPPER!!! KIPPER will be the next BACHELOR!! HOLY COW!! HOLY COW!!!! I wonder if he'll just drown himself in the pool once she rejects him. When he greets her, he does all of the talking. He's clearly nervous and he doesn't stop talking. I wonder if he's supposed to do the talking. Kiptyn says: I love you and I want to spend this life with you.

Jillian then starts talking - since she met him, he has been the one that she's been looking for. She tells him that she's fallen in love with somebody else. Kiptyn says that it hurts a lot, that he loves her and wants her to be happy. His last words, "You're an incredible woman and Ed is a lucky man." As they walk out, I wonder if he's going to push Jillian in the pool. I also wonder what he was doing futzing around with his coat - probably wondering if he still had the ring. Kiptyn is teary eyed in the limo, but the ever articulate Kiptyn is still campaigning to be the Next Bachelor. He said he would have pulled out the ring, but she started talking. He was waiting for her to finish so he could propose, but she dumped him. Hate when that happens!! At least she didn't have to hear him propose and then reject him AND a proposal. Kiptyn gets his first ever heartbreak. Congratulations!! This will be a good thing for you in the long run.

The Fiance says he should have shaved.

Now that Kiptyn is out of the way, Jillian can focus on Ed. Ahhh, but not so soon. A red minivan arrives and Reid steps out with his sneakers on. So she's expecting her future husband Ed to show up and out comes REID?? Ahhh, that's a tough position to be in. Reid shows up and declares that he's going to tell her everything and then he's going to propose to her. HOLY SHIT!!!! (Sorry, it just slipped out).

He marches up and hugs Jillian. Then he tells her that he was an idiot. So he comes back to tell her that he loves her (moments before she could possibly get engaged to another guy!!). Jillian says letting him go was the toughest thing she ever had to do. He gets down on one knee and holy cow - PROPOSES!!! They are locked in an embrace for a while, then she says she will think about this. She goes inside to think and meanwhile, Reid stands where Jillian just stood waiting for Ed. How awesome would it be if Ed came in and saw Reid there instead of Jillian?? Maybe Ed would propose to Reid (or vice versa). Amazing that she had three guys willing to propose to her in one day. That must be really overwhelming!!! He is sweating like crazy (so am I!) and she leaves to go think. The Fiance thinks that Reid could have dressed a little nicer. Probably, but he also had to schelp from Philly back to Hawaii - quite a journey this guy came to propose!

Meanwhile, Ed is still on his way there. Ring in hand. Chris the Host steps in and basically tells Jillian who to choose. Good job, Chris! Is this the first time in Bachelorette history that he's made the decision for the Bachelorette? Jillian tells Reid that she has truly fallen in love with Ed. She just hugs him and apologizes. She goes to walk him out. Not to worry, I am sure that the entire Philadelphia JDate population will be looking for a real estate agent after tonight's episode, begging for the chance to meet him. I really hope that Ed doesn't pull up while they are hugging. She mumbles more apologies into his ear and cries her goodbyes. I have no idea what she is saying, but it seems sincere.

Is anybody else going to come back to propose? Perhaps Dave? Jake? Michael Stag? I wouldn't be surprised at this point. That was really rough to spring that on her right after she rejected Kip. I wonder why they didn't give him a chance to talk with her before the actual final part of the show. Perhaps if she had 24 hours to think it through and if Chris Harrison hadn't given her the pep talk he had with her, the results could have been different. But I guess ABC needs to deliver their shocking ending - and so here it is.

After she gets rid of Reid, she goes back to her spot and says, "Ed better not F-in disappoint me!" Hilarious. She says she's 100% sure she made the right decision.

As he's about to show up - Jillian calls him her best friend and that she's 100% madly in love with him. Ed gets out and says he's nervous, he's scared, and he just wants to be with her. Ed gives her a whole speech about everything he loves about her, and he says that before he can go further, he needs to know that she loves him. She then lets him have it. She's in love. She's wanted to tell him for so long. Ed then gets down on one knee and proposes. She happily accepts and then we get a cool video montage of the two of them together. It's a good thing he came back!!!

Congrats to Jillian and Ed!!!! I think the Fiance got choked up. I did too. I'm happy for them. I am sure Kiptyn and Reid will have no problem finding their happy ending too. Good luck to them.

This has been a long and adventurous journey. Jillian started with 30 men and ended with 3 proposals. I started with a Boyfriend and ended with a Fiance. Certainly, our lives will never be the same. Thanks so much for joining us in the journey. I will comment a bit on tomorrow's show and then we'll be in the off season. I hope you will continue to check in to this blog for more updates about this crazy show, and other shows I watch, updates on our wedding planning and hopefully - some published writing from me in the near future (fingers crossed!). Happy rest of the summer to all of you. Please leave your comments here. Were you surprised? Do you approve of her decision? Let's hear it!!

It All Comes Down to Tonight's FINALE!!!

Some are rooting for Ed, others hope that Reid gets another chance and almost everyone thinks that Kiptyn will be the next bachelor and has no chance of winning this thing. Hmmmm.

I just hope that Jillian picks someone - because why else have we given up our Monday nights for the past 3 months to learn that she chooses herself??

Here's an article posted yesterday re: the remaining suitors: http://tvwatch.people.com/2009/07/26/the-bachelorette-jillian-sees-potential-both-finalists/

Who do you think takes it?? Do you think she is engaged?

Interview with Jillian

We learn a lot and nothing at the same time from Jillian's recent interview. It's long, but interesting. She's got a lot of respect for Michael Stagliano. Also, the whole Reid coming back may have been edited in the preview we saw. Sounds like Jillian knew how he felt even though he never voiced it. My prediction is still Ed. I doubt he has a girlfriend. And if he did before he left, it's clearly over.

Ed, Reid, Kiptyn or Nobody: Let's Discuss!

So despite having a ton of work to do, I find myself pondering the upcoming finale next week. We've got several things to think about revolving around the following: We're down to the final 2, but we know based on a quick shot of Reid holding a round ring, that he is definitely coming back next week for a "shocking confession." We also know he didn't attend the Men Tell All due to a "prior engagement." Now whose engagement this is (Reid's, Ed's or Kiptyn's) we have yet to know.

Here are the possible outcomes of next Monday night's finale:

1. Jillian chooses Kiptyn. Originally, the Kipper has been a frontrunner from the start. If his mother didn't scare her away, he still has a good shot. I don't like the fact that Jillian feels "out of his league" and I don't see her being as relaxed and quirky around him as she is with Ed and Reid. That said, their relationship has grown a lot, to the point she seems far more comfortable around him now than she did weeks ago. Their ropes course date and time in Hawaii together so far, seems to have bonded them to a new level. Also, not sure what I make of the fact that we didn't see their time together in great detail at Kiptyn's charity. Jillian has said that she thinks giving back is extremely important, and there you have the Kipster - doing that very thing. I wonder why ABC chose to edit this out of the original show. This makes me wonder whether a bulb went off in Jillian's head that Kippy (with his ridiculously nice house near the beach, wealthy family, good looks, great muscles and friendly personality) could be IT.

Kiptyn Pros: Great Looking, Affectionate, Articulate, His relationship with Jillian has been building up at a strong and steady pace; She has a clear cut attraction for him; He seems to be willing to try anything; Mature; Volunteers at Charity; His affluent lifestyle; Whenever they visit in-laws, she'll have hot tub waiting for her and beach nearby.

Kiptyn Cons: His Mother; His affluent upbringing that includes wine and lasagna taste testing; Not sure whether Jillian still feels as confident in Kiptyn's feelings for her as she does about Ed (and possibly Reid); Kiptyn's never been dumped before and Jillian sees this as a negative for some reason

2. Jillian Chooses Ed. Since the moment Ed walked in as part of the unexpected additional 5 men that Jillian had to choose from, I liked him. From their very first date, Jillian and Ed had a very relaxed chemistry and Ed seems extremely down to earth. A workaholic, Jillian can relate to his strong work ethic and Ed seems mature enough that he is ready to find that right person and settle down. Jillian was devastated when Ed announced he needed to leave and was shocked upon his return. Shocked and delighted. Their relationship may have had some setbacks, but has been full steam ahead ever since Ed returned. Ed has been the most articulate that he is actually in love with Jillian and that he would propose to her. Jillian admits to being extremely attracted to Ed. The one hitch in this relationship seems to be their overnight date in the fantasy suite that ABC built up for 6 weeks and then never quite explained. We are left to believe that for some reason there was a lack of chemistry, but we don't know what exactly happened, whether this was staged fake chemistry, and whether there has been any improvement since. I guess we'll have to see. If the two of them can make out in fountains in public, I'm sure they can find chemistry behind closed doors. Or maybe they have the problem that Charlotte (from Sex and the City) and her first husband, Trey, had - in that he could only "get it up" when they were in public places. Hmmmm. I don't know Ed, but I doubt that's his problem.

Ed Pros: Handsome, down to earth Midwestern boy; Career oriented, like Jillian; Great job at Microsoft; Very nice, sincere parents; Tal, dark and hot thing going for him; Ed is clearly head over heels for Jillian and can express his feelings; Funny when drunk; Very easy attraction/chemistry between him and Jills; Nice guy;

Ed Cons: Those horrible itty bitty shorts he was wearing; Maybe a bit too into his job for Jillian's taste, especially once all of these shenanigans are over and he has to go back to work and has little time for parading around doing interviews; Possible momentary lack of chemistry may put bigger doubts in Jillian's mind about him; His firm belief that he's in love with Jillian and ready to propose may come on a bit strong - and ultimately turn off Jillian (since she seems to like the bad boys more who show less interest in her, like Wes).

3. Jillian chooses Reid. Reid has definitely grown the most in his relationship with Jillian. He was rejected last week, but we know from their good-bye, his limo ride where he regretted not laying it all out there for Jillian, and from the coming attractions that this love story is not quite over yet. The question will be: did Jillian know how Reid felt about her? And if so, would it make a difference? I think she knew she would definitely pick Kiptyn and her real decision was whether the awkward night with Ed (if that wasn't staged) was a fluke or whether it was real and she should go with Reid. Jill's relationship with Reid has grown steadily and her interactions with him reveal her playful quirky side - matching the same in him. You can see that their dates seem the most normal - going grocery shopping to pick out a meal to have a picnic - only neither of them can speak Spanish and therefore they don't end up with any food. That's real. Watching Reid do the hula dancing was equally hilarious. He was awful. But she loved it. Perhaps the real question is why Jillian chose to say good-bye to him in the first place. And should he come back with a proposal, would she accept it? Or would she accept a promise ring? Was her chemistry with Reid greater than that with other two and if it was, why would she get rid of him? I guess we'll have to see. Ultimately, she make a decision that her feelings re: Ed and Kiptyn were stronger than with Reid, and perhaps that is still the answer after all is said and done.

Reid's Pros: Quirky in an adorable way; Warm, inviting family; Flexible job/family business that Jillian could get involved in; Sincere and genuinely into Jillian; Down to earth and funny (loved when he started wandering around the train when everybody else was on the group date with Jillian and he got drunk and talked to the train employees).

Reid's Cons: Maybe a bit too quirky; They keep discussing their "differences" though perhaps besides religion, not sure what they are except that he dates blondes; He is not able to verbalize to Jillian's satisfaction how he feels about her; Some of the other guys in the house have referred to Reid as "annoying" and "dorky" - given they may not be the best judge of characters, but I wonder what made them say that.

4. Jillian Chooses Nobody. The ultimate in unsatisfying endings, the fact that Jillian is obviously rattled and is in tears at the end may hint at the fact that she is too confused to pick anybody. This would be so annoying, because I really do think she had some fantastic candidates. The Mikes were great, and her final 3 were equally great. Surely one of them would be worth at least pursuing a relationship with?? I doubt she chooses herself...but it's certainly a possibility.

The next question is: will she become engaged, receive a promise ring or just simply choose a person? I think it depends on who she chooses. With Ed, I see engagement. With Kiptyn, I see them just dating. With Reid, I see promise ring.

If I had to guess, I'd say Ed takes it all. Now's your turn. Who do you think it will be???

The Men Tell All

Since tonight's episode was not an episode at all, I will make some brief comments, and then I want to hear yours.

It's The Men Tell All and before we actually see any of the men live, we get some pre-taped interviews with Jillian. Some of the funnier things of note:

-Ed actually has a ton of personality when he's drunk; They showed some footage of him in Vancouver being an inebriated fool, and actually - I think it worked in his advantage. Jillian was cracking up (although she was annoyed that he lifted her up in a short dress).

-Robby's good-bye on the train was actually an hour and a half because the train missed its stop and had to go backwards to leave him at the right place. As you may recall, poor Robby was not only dumped by Jillian after some one on one time, he was left on the side of the train tracks - in what looked like the wilderness.

-Reid can NOT hula dance at all, and watching the footage of him trying to do so, was really funny. No wonder ABC cut it :)

-Jillian digs Tanner's foot fetish. Wow, takes quite a woman to be so cool about it.

-The Kipper is a do-gooder, and volunteers with teenage children. He took Jills to where he volunteers during his hometown visit. Definitely brownie points here.

-Jill finally admits that Wes came on the show to promote his music, not for her. Next week, she will probably announce that Montreal is in Canada and that water cures thirst.

-Molly and Jason are still together and she returns with longer, darker hair and some sort of zit
on her chin. Maybe this what love does for you. They have been together now for 6 months. Molly and Tye are buddies now. Both say they love each other and that they would get married, but the next step is for Molly to move to Seattle. Jason uses this opportunity to plug his website, http://www.jasonsplace.com/ He also uses this opportunity to say that if what he ultimately did (aka, screwing over Melissa to go back to his second choice, Molly) caused Melissa's current happiness and Jillian's current happiness, then he's happy he did it. Wow, Jason is really a hero - did you know that?

-David has a beard and looks dirtier than ever. Noticeably absent from The Men Tell All: Wes, Reid (not able to make it due to "prior engagement...") Hmmmm - is that a play on words? Is it because he's ENGAGED?? Interesting choice of words, Chris.

-The other guys bash Jake's "perfect-ness." One guy said he wouldn't step on an ant.

-Robby is labeled as the group drunk.

-Wes is the most hated. The guys say he's there for his music. He has a girlfriend. "A country-singing turd," is one of the better things said about Wes.

-They said that Jake "pulled a Mesnick" - meaning a grown man leans over a railing and cries. Mark names 3 things that bother him about Jake (which were definitely things he prepared and said into a mirror at least 100 times before saying them on TV). Sasha tells him he's a phony. Poor Jake. They're a little too rough on him. Mike Stag is the only one that sticks up for him. He (Mike Stag) is so freakin' adorable. His momma would be proud of him.

-Dave has a lot to say about man code. Man code is an unspoken set of rules that you don't have to talk about. You don't sleep with your friend's girl. He does admit, however, that being on The Bachelorette is a violation of a man code. The guys didn't like that Juan faked a shot and pretended that his throat burned. This greatly offends Dave and Robby. Tanner P looks like he spent a lot of time in a tanning bed before coming on the show. Maybe he calls it the Tanner Bed. His forehead, cheeks and throat are orange and the rest of his face is pale.

-Dave gets the hot seat first of the guys and it's clear he made a great initial impression on Jillian. The more she gets to know him, however, the more uncomfortable he makes Jillian. His whole speech about her ass, was the end of it all. Dave can not believe that he made Jillian feel very uncomfortable. He then polls the audience in asking them if they would like it if a guy compliments their asses. A real crowd pleaser, that guy.

-Jake is next in the hot seat. He admits he was falling in love with Jillian. Jake also admits to never thinking about "man code" before telling Jillian that Wes had a girlfriend. He says he would do it again. The female audience members applaud this. The guys bash Jake's decision. Dave says that Jake "cried like a little girl..." while Robby defends Jake's actions.

One audience member asks Jake if he'd be willing to be the next Bachelor and the audience goes wild (hmmm, some early promotion on ABC's part? That would be pretty smart). Not sure that Jake has enough of an edge to make the show interesting enough. How would he ever reject anybody? Would he cry in between rose ceremonies? Not that there's anything wrong with male crying - I just don't know if he could stomach some of the rejection that's a natural part of the show. Jake's response to whether he'd be the next Bachelor - is that he's still very much "in this season" and it's a decision he'd have to make at the time. (My guess is he'd think about it for about .001 seconds before accepting).

Is anybody else watching the commercials? Why are there so many depression commercials? Are people who watch The Bachelorette a natural target for depression? Am I depressed?

I'm trying to get this blog post done before my friend Erika (who is visiting from Chicago) arrives at our apartment. I already warned her that I can't speak to her until after the show is over (how great of a hostess am I?). The Fiance is at the Yankees game, so I am flying solo tonight.

OK, back to the show. So Wes doesn't show, but that doesn't stop Chris from examining Wes and Jillian's relationship. After the brief recap of their relationship, the audience boos. It's like Jerry Springer on set. Apparently, Wes wrote his country songs for his girlfriend back home. Some of the guys think that Wes has genuine feels for Jillian, others disagree. Chris asks if there were any Wes supporters in the audience, and he couldn't find one person to speak. ABC did put together a music video featuring Wes - part music, part him admitting that he wants fame. No wonder he didn't show up tonight. Again, more booing from the audience over this video.

-Jillian comes out finally and confronts Dave about feeling uncomfortable by him. Dave apologizes. She specifically feels bad she let Mike Steinberg go so early and Mike Stagliano (Love the Mikes!)

- Jillian basically tells Jake that she didn't want to string him along. Ouch. Guess she wasn't interested.

-As for Wes, Jillian does believe she got played by him. Mike Stag has the nicest speech out of all of the guys. He basically tells Jillian that he is OK, and he's learned a lot about love and the kind of woman he wants to marry.

-Funny outtakes: "These guys keep getting hotter and harder..." says Jillian.
-The gas of the guys (Ed and Mike Stag); Jillian's fake orgasm from pepperoni.

Chris asks Jillian if she's happy. Her response: "I'm extremely happy." Thanks for that revealing answer. Is this going to be one of those "I chose myself" endings? Or will she pick Kiptyn (and his mother) or go for Ed? Who knows? Will Reid return and steal the show? What do you think?

Will Reid show tonight? Probably not

Most of you think Reid is not attending tonight's Men Tell All episode. I agree. He is so coming back to woo Jillian and tell her the things he was never able to say. Perhaps he thought that having an intimate bubble bath with her sealed her decision to give him a rose. Apparently it takes more than that, as he learned the hard way.

Here's a preview of tonight's show. Chris H is saying it's "dramatic" - shocker!

The Only Thing Worse Than a 9 PM Work Conference Call and Reid Getting The Boot?

A 9:30 PM conference call (scheduled til 11 PM) the following night (tonight!). As if I'm not emotionally enough exhausted from Ed's parents showing up and the rejection/regret Reid must have felt after bathing with the girl, getting dumped and then blaming himself for not telling her how he felt. It's only Tuesday and I'm spent! Is it Friday yet?

Molly/Jason are STILL together. Her hair got longer and darker since we've last seen her. I think Jake and DeAnna Pappas might make a cute couple and I think she got to meet him during the filming of The Men Tell All. Interesting...

I am the only person left on the floor, usually occupied by 300+ people. It's scary being alone on the 40th floor of midtown Manhattan building after hours. I miss the Fiance. Even though I live with him, I haven't seen him in about 48 hours.

Aloha to Ed's Parents, Leaps of Faith and Reiding Minds...

Warning: I'm writing this recap after a 75 minute work conference call that started at 9 PM tonight.  It's way past my bed time so if I seem to be slurring my words, it's not intentional.    Tonight we get to see the 3 incredible overnight dates in Hawaii.  We're in beautiful Maui to kick off the week. A tan and toned Jillian in a yellow and white striped bikini is walking the beach and hanging out in the ocean.
Date 1 is with Kiptyn and the two of them meet up on a hanging suspension bridge.  They run toward each other and we have our first lift up greeting hug.  Kiptyn is still adorable and it's always fun to see their easy chemistry.  They get into an open air tractor type vehicle and ride off through some fields.  They stop at a ropes course so Jillian can torture him with some trust games.  With bright yellow helmets, the two of them look like they are utility servicing company workers.  Jillian is appreciating that the Kipper can be silly while on the ropes course and still make out with her in between trying to maintain his balance on a tight rope.

Their final challenge is the "leap of faith," where they have to stand on a single pole and jump in the air for a trapeze.  It looks absolutely terrifying.  Jillian looks like she's going to puke.
I can't believe they were able to just stand upright on the poles and could leap for the trapeze - it looked completely scary.  But both of them find that jumping from poles and testing their balance can lead to love.  I'm not sure I get the whole ropes course thing, but maybe it works for some.  If you made me climb up a tall poll and told me to jump out into the middle of nothing, I would not find that romantic - I'd probably cry.

It's night time, and Jillian is all dolled up in a black jump suit - an impossible piece of clothing to take off.  Perhaps Jillian is trying to restrain herself.  They are at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa and dinner awaits them outside.  Jillian asks him what his flaws are as she can't name them.  (Hello, his MOTHER??!!).  The Kipster thinks his lack of patience is one of his flaws and that none of his other relationships were good enough.  Jillian is psyched she is getting the raw and real conversation that she wanted before.  Kiptyn's spitting out things like "leap of faith" and that Jillian should "get what she deserves."  This makes her smile.  Now the card inviting them to stay together overnight comes again.   They move into the overnight suite together and there's tons of kissing and cuddling.  Ahhh, so it's NOT Kiptyn that is having some sexual issues. Phew. Jillian says she is "falling in love with the real Kiptyn."  Ooooh, "L" word.  Is anybody else noticing the way that Kiptyn hugs Jillian? It's always a bit awkward, almost like he immediately bends his neck to make sure they don't bang heads, but it's over exaggerated. Almost peacock like.  Ok, maybe that's just me and my lack of sleep. Check it out next time.

It's daytime again and Jillian greets Reid with a beach ball and a big kiss and hug.  Jillian asks Reid what he wants to do, and he says, "Make out!"  And that's what they do basically.  They are both wearing gray outfits (are they color coordinated?). A helicopter appears and takes them away over the beautiful island of Maui. It flies over the water, mountains, clouds, and waterfalls - the pilot announces that he is an ordained minister and does helicopter weddings.  Reid seems excited about the prospect of getting married to Jillian, but then probably realizes he is Jewish and needs a rabbi there too.   Reid and Jillian make a picnic on a gorgeous area of
Maui.  Reid tells Jillian he kind of feels rushed and he doesn't like when she is with other guys.  He admits that he is not very good with expressing his emotions verbally.  They spend a significant amount of their date just kissing. You can tell he's really struggling because he seems to very much like her. I think Jillian likes watching him sweat it out, and although she already knows that he cares about her very much, she wants to hear him actually say it aloud.

It's night again and Jillian appears in a very pretty, strapless tangerine maxi dress.  More making out after Reid greets her.  They have a nice, romantic dinner on the beach.  All Jillian wants is for Reid to tell her how he's feeling.  They sip wine and talk about whether Reid is ready to propose at the end of this. Jills is really laying it on thick. She's doing all of the talking - about moving to Philly, about raising a family - basically everything serious a person could possibly raise, she does . And Reid is not running away.  His hair is as confused as he is in expressing his emotions.  You can tell that Jillian trusts him and has so much more of a relaxed vibe around him than with Kiptyn.  The fantasy suite card comes and they agree to go together (looks like they are staying at the Westin).  Reid admits that the "L" word could happen at some point in the future.  He says this as he drops one of his hands close to her tush. Very romantic.  Ooooh, we see Jillian's orange dress on the floor and her and Reid in the bathtub - are they naked??? Is this a family show anymore? I don't think we're supposed to see this, are we? Will there be an X-rated version of this show for sale online?  You know some production person is selling a tape on the Internet that is NOT set to romantic Bachelorette guitar music.  BTW, there are candles and rose petals everywhere around the bath tub.  I'm guessing Reid may feel used after this is all over.

We're up to Date 3 in Maui.  This picture on the left says it all. Could they be any more in love?? In a blue tank top, Ed greets Jillian and they go out on a catamaran on the water.  Ahhhh, the romantic Bachelorette music is BACK in full force.   Phew, because I almost forgot what it sounded like.  Jillian complains that she never gets to meet his family, and it's hard to get engaged without doing so.  Ed says that his family calls him "Richie" and for some reason Jillian find this to be adorable.  They get into their bathing suits and dive into the water.  There's some  crazy underwater cameras filming all of the body language going on in the water between them, and it's hot!

Ed announces that he has flown his parents out there to meet Jillian. It would be horrible for him to introduce Jillian to his parents and then have her dump him.  Oh man, is it Ed that has trouble in the bedroom? I sure hope not - he's doing so well in his comeback since he left!!  They are back at the hotel and Jilli covers up her sexy little bikini to be "parent presentable."  Sitting on the couch, Jillian meets Ed's parents,  Judy and Rick.  His mom is so adorable and has Ed's eyes - she is so happy to see how much Jillian adores her son. It's actually a very cute family.  Ed's dad looks young, and I like his smile (and crazy mustache).  Judy takes Jillian off for some private conversation.  Ed's dad is so cute, "What the hell are we doing here...what is going on?" he says.  His dad is very concerned about Ed putting his job on the line (wow, he's actually normal!).  Ed says he "swears he would get engaged if Jillian picked him."  Woahhhh, Ed's in deep!!!  Go Ed!!!  He's totally lost it and now we have to watch it all unfold.  Rick comes out to talk to Jillian and get to the bottom of things.  Ed's dad basically tears up after seeing his son so happy and Jillian tears up too.  I'm tearing up watching this. Why do I care??  Go Jillian and Ed. I think his parents are very sincere.

Ed's tiny little green shorts are a bit too high, but at this point, Jillian doesn't seem to care.  They sit on the beach together and kiss.  She whips out the fantasy suite date card and he is all smiles.  They decide to take advantage of it.  (Later on during the credits, Jillian comments that she likes Ed's little green shorts).

It's night again at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa.  Jillian thinks Ed is so sexy - and he makes her heart skip.  There are rose petals, tea lights and flowers everywhere. Are these two ever going to stop touching each other?  Ed really wants to come home to somebody and not check his email til 9 PM at night (ugh, how about 9 PM conference calls, Ed?? I feel your pain!).   Ed is very able to express himself and is easily able to tell her that he's falling in love with her.  You know Jillian has gotta be loving this.

Off they go together into the bedroom and start making out.  Jillian goes into the bathroom and comes out wearing a low cut white cotton shirt and Ed says, "This girl is smoking hot...why does she like me?"  I love that they are so into each other.  She gives him a massage using oils (OMG, ABC is REALLY going all out with the sexual references...this must really have been a boring season).  So there they are in the bedroom, and I'm just waiting for disaster to hit, as promised in the previews. Oh no. Here it comes.

I don't really understand what happened, but Jillian says something about how the affection she thought would happen didn't - and she doesn't know why. She is confused as to whether there is any chemistry.  It's not really clear what went on. So for the whole season we have been seeing a preview of this bedroom disaster and when it finally happens, we see like 10 seconds of some confusion which does not explain anything other than a possible lack of chemistry. It doesn't make any sense.  Is ABC trying to make us believe that there is any way that Jillian isn't going to pick Ed? Did they stage this fake bedroom disaster to make it seem like more of a competition for Kip's sake? Her chemistry with Ed is on a another planet than her chemistry with any of the other guys combined.

Jillian shows up to the rose ceremony in an adorable red, beige and black silk long dress.  Jillian admits that she's having the strong feelings she is supposed to feel.  Jillian admits that she she is falling in love with more than one guy.

The guys leave her private video messages to carry out this show even a bit longer - perhaps the most intense message comes from Ed who says he wants the chance to propose and that he loves her.  Holy Ed!!  Who is she going to dump???

It's another rose ceremony and the 3 guys are all adorable and tan.  There's nothing more attractive to a guy than when the girl of your dreams comes up to you and says, "I am falling in love with all of you."  If that doesn't make you feel special, not sure what will.

Jillian pulls Ed aside to talk to him about their lack of chemistry in the bedroom. He assures her this is not a permanent issue and to trust him.  Final 2 roses go to: KIPTYN and....Ed!!!!!  OH NO, good-bye, Reid.  So sad!!!  He is so regretting getting used in the bathtub on the overnight suite date.

Jillian walks Reid out.  She tells him that he's goofy, and fun and that they have a connection.  Ultimately, it sounds like he didn't open up enough.  They linger a bit and put their heads together and there's some sighs and cries.  It doesn't look like Jillian is convinced she made the right decision when she says good bye to him.  Jillian cries by herself after she says goodbye to Reid.  In the limo, Reid admits that the reason things didn't work out was his fault.  Ed comes over to comfort Jills.

Next week it's the Men til All.  Angry Dave is back.  Wes will be torn apart. There's a reunion of sorts in Vegas that seems interesting. Jason and Molly are back to talk about how much everyone hates them. This is all exciting stuff. Perhaps the most exciting will be Jillian's final dates with the guys, them meeting her family and more views of Hawaii. They are off to the Big Island. I kind of like this tour of Hawaii.  It's like the Bachelorette is scouting out potential honeymoon locations for us. It's fun!

Ok, can't keep my eyes open any longer.  I've got my next call in 8 hours from now. Let's hear your latest thoughts on tonight's episode. Are you sad to see Reid go?  As he came in third place and Jillian came in third place, do you think he'd make a good next Bachelor? Is there any way that Ed doesn't win this thing?  Do you believe the lack of chemistry in the bedroom scene? Are you scared of Kiptyn's mother?

A 9 PM Conference Call for Work??

I mean, who on earth thinks it's acceptable to have a 9 PM conference call for work? Just found out that I will have to take one tonight from home. This severely disrupts my dedicated 8-10 PM Monday night time slot for watching my favorite show. I wonder what the partner at my law firm would have said if I told him, "Sorry, I can't make tonight's conference call. I have to watch and blog about The Bachelorette...no I'm not getting paid for it, but I take this obligation very seriously."

UGH, this will be a very late night for me. But not to worry, I have my priorities straight. Of course there will be a re-cap later on tonight (but it will be later than my normal posting time).

Meanwhile, The Fiance and I are researching destination wedding ideas. We want something with direct flights from major cities in the US, easy to get to from the airport (within a 30 minute drive), relatively inexpensive hotel rooms for guests, great weather, near a beach and pool with the option of some activities like golf, water sports, casinos, etc. Also, it must be good for kids (between the two of us, we've got 9 nieces and nephews). If you have any suggestions, we are all ears. Destinations in the US are great as well (but we'd prefer east coast unless one of you has a very large resort elsewhere you'd like to lend us for a weekend - in which case, we will gladly consider :))

Ok, time to get some work done so I can go home and do more work.

ABC Editing Wes to Be the Villain??

According to a recent interview with the infamous Wes, he was edited to look like a jerk with a girlfriend who was only there for publicity.  Perhaps his most incriminating remark was made after Jillian rejected him. In the limo ride home, Wes said something like, "Only guy in the history of the show to make it to the Top 4 with a girlfriend..." According to Wes, this line was butchered.  Apparently he followed this line by saying that if he was such a person, he'd be at home WITH this alleged girlfriend, not putting up with the crap he had to put up with.

Do you believe him? Do you think he had a girlfriend? Was he just there to promote his music? Are you sick of Wes?  Let's hear your thoughts.

Oh, btw, me and The Fiance had some celebratory drinks at a local bar the other night and I invited Mike Steinberg to join us.  He actually wrote a very nice email back congratulating us but he could not attend due to a trip to Chicago.  He was on his way to LA for the Men Tell All.  According to DeAnna Pappas's Twitter account, she had the opportunity to hang out with all of Jillian's guys. I wonder if she had any particular favorites (I could totally see her and Jake getting together!).

How The Boyfriend Became The Fiance...

I'll make it brief and let the pictures do the talking here, but this past weekend was magical. The Boyfriend and I drove up to the Adirondacks on Thursday night, to visit Camp Echo Lake, the summer camp we met at 19 years ago. We were both campers and then staff members there. While walking around the camp, The Boyfriend was taking a ton of photos with his camera. He seemed particularly pleased by the way the sky looked off the deck of a large log cabin at the camp and insisted on taking my picture. While telling me to move closer to him, he got lower and lower until he was on one knee. I was getting annoyed that he was taking all of these pictures of me. He reached into his camera bag and I said to him, "Are you getting a new battery to take MORE pictures?" He didn't answer me, and instead, pulled out a box with a gorgeous diamond ring in it. Completely shocked, I'm not really quite sure what came next. There was a speech of some sort from him followed by me saying, "Of course!" when he asked me what my answer was. He then surprised me by taking me to The Sagamore - a resort on Lake George that is absolutely magnificent. When we arrived, there were rose petals, champagne and strawberries in our room. The Fiance had packed a dress and heels for me (I had only brought sneakers and jeans as I thought we'd be in camp mode all weekend) and made dinner reservations at an amazing restaurant in the hotel.

Going back to the place we met 19 years ago to propose to me, I couldn't have imagined it any better. I am posting some pictures we took over the weekend. The first one above, was taken seconds after I said YES.

So that's the story. We are engaged. No idea on timing or location yet - but if you have some suggestions, we're all ears...

Wes is the Worst, 1st Ever Rejection of Overnight Fantasy Suite Card and Ed's Catch-Up

Love is in the air, Bachelorette Fans! As many of you may have read by now, I am officially engaged to be married. Details to come, but just know - "The Boyfriend" is now "The Fiance." Thanks so much for all of your sweet comments. We look forward to sharing details of our wedding as they unfold. Stay tuned!

We're back from a long 4th of July weekend, ready to rock (with my new rock). Hope you guys all did something fun. One person wrote in that they would understand if I wanted to take tonight off from writing my recap. But typing is so much more fun with some new bling - so here we go!

Tonight's episode begins in Madrid, Spain. Jillian is wandering the streets in more dangling earrings and ponders the 4 remaining men. ABC is trying to kill time by really selling these last 4 guys to us. First we get a 10 minute recap of Kiptyn, his 8 or 10 pack, good looks, frightening mother and her plastic surgery, Kip's charm and how Jilli's feelings are very strong for him. Next we hear about Reid and how their relationship moved slow at first, that they are opposites, and how his family helped seal her strong feelings for him. It's not really clear how they are opposites except that he's quirky, Jewish and she may not be either of these things.

Next comes career minded Ed. He's handsome, but a workaholic. He leaves the show for his job, returns and now Jillian is worried about whether he can make her a priority. Then there's Wes, the badboy country guy, that Jillian has always wanted to be with. He's "had many women" (that is so straight from Dirty Dancing - as Baby asks Jonny if he's "had many women."). "Wes is far far from perfect, but there is something about him that I have a connection with..." says Jillian. At this point, there's not a person on the planet who trusts this guy. He's got sleaze oozing out of him.

"Everything about Kiptyn is what every mother would want her daughter to marry, " says Jillian who thinks he may be out of her league. Why does she think this?? She's the BACHELORETTE. Nobody is out of her league. Doesn't she realize that competition is what brings things to a head? The Bachelorette is all about finding love, but is also happens to be about having more chemistry, more charm, more charisma and more personality than your competitors, developing a deep relationship in minimal time, making sure your family doesn't embarrass you, and getting those crucial one on one dates. Kiptyn and Jillian walk around Madrid. Jillian tells Kiptyn that she loved his family and that his mom was a "doll." That's not hard to believe - as I don't think that any part of her face actually moved when she talked. She could very well have been a doll. Kiptyn's sisters ask whether he'd be ready to propose. He says that it's going really well, but that he thought a "proposal seems far off." UGH. You can almost hear the disappointment music playing in the background. Jillian's disappointment is palpable.

Jillian discusses her feelings on getting engaged to the camera. "Would you normally get engaged this quick? -- No... but it's about falling in love and taking a leap of faith." I dunno, Jills. If Kippy isn't feeling it now, it's not looking good for several weeks from now if that's when you want a proposal by. You can tell that Jillian is a bit reserved around Kiptyn - almost as one might be around someone they have a crush on. It's not really a chummy relationship at this point - it's more butterflies and Jillian trying to read him. As for a proposal, there's nothing wrong with falling in love and getting to know each other in the real world before making a big decision. If I was demanding proposals from The Fiance a couple of weeks into us dating, I would have been sorely disappointed. Letting things run their natural course is definitely a good thing.

Jillian and the Kipper walk into a dance studio where Maria and Ricardo teach them a few Flamenco dance steps. They change into traditional Spanish Flamenco costumes and hug each other. They look like they are ready to do the Pase Doble from Dancing with the Stars, but unfortunately do not dance or look like Gilles Marini. They do their dances on stage and you can tell Kiptyn is painfully uncomfortable, but at least he's having a lot of fun. "Flamenco and me should never hang out again," says Kiptyn. He just wants to make out with her so he doesn't have to dance. I love when he lifts her up and carries her off the stage effortlessly. He's a fit dude.

Jillian loves to squeal when she greets her men. It's slightly pig squealish, but I suppose it's flattering to the object of the squeal. In a bright yellow skirt, Jillian agrees to go for a moped ride with the Kipster. They start driving through the streets of Madrid. It looks like a fairytale with the cobblestone streets and colorful buildings around them. They come to a restaurant with a private table for a two. Kiptyn says that in putting on his Flamenco clothes, he couldn't get his zipper shut. Are we supposed to be impressed by this? Jillian says he may be at risk for hurting "the boys." When did ABC become so risque???

They get snails delivered to them and they clearly don't like them, downing wine to hide the taste. Jillian is sitting on a chair that says "Springteen" on it, which is kind of perfect. She is like a spring teen around Kiptyn. It's almost like watching a freshman have a conversation with the homecoming king. Jillian seems to be trying a new technique on Kiptyn. She is drilling him with questions like his mother must have done his whole life. They get the "fantasy suite" card handed out. Holy cow, Viewers. For the first time in Bachelor/Bachelorette History - she rejects the opportunity to "stay as a couple overnight" in the fantasy suite!!!! HOLY COW. She rejects it because she's not ready to spend the night with him. They have tons of kissing and by the end of the night, Kiptyn is saying he could see Jillian as being someone he could spend his life with. Is this not a brilliant move by Jillian, or what? Now she's got him where she wants him.

Next, in Sevilla, Spain, Jillian, in lots of makeup and another cute outfit, is greeted by an insta-kiss from Reid. "We're going to pick up some wine, some cheeses, some bread, then go to a park and make out," says Jillian. Jillian makes fun of herself for not knowing any Spanish. Meanwhile, the guy at the meat store is looking at the two of them like they are the dumbest people alive. He is so annoyed that they are just laughing and making out in his store.

"Walking through Sevilla with Reid and all of my groceries, I feel like Reid is my boyfriend." Jillian is clearly glowing when she talks about Reid. They're chemistry is very easy together and even the way they tease each other, giggle together and can't keep their hands off of each other speaks volumes. His family loved her and she loved them. While they are eating their food, they start opening up to each other about their feelings for each other.

Sevilla looks gorgeous, btw. It's now night and Jillian has changed into a white cotton strapless dress. Reid is wondering whether he's in love. Jillian wants specifics as to how he feels about her. She says he talks in generalities. Jillian seems to have much more confidence and control in her connection with Reid as opposed to Kiptyn. They sit at a very romantic dinner by water. Reid says he moves slowly with these sorts of things. He says he's very attracted to her and thinks she's smart. Jillian once again declines the fantasy suite with him. I like that Reid says he wants to do whatever Jillian is comfortable with. They are totally teasing and flirting with each other again in a way that's unlike her time with Kiptyn or Wes. Reid expresses that he doesn't like her making out with other guys. He then says one of the funniest lines of the season: "I'm gonna sabotage the other dates." Jillian says she feels like she is falling in love with Reid. "I didn't think I could fall in love with somebody and feel so much like myself." This last line, I think, confirms Reid's place in the final two. He is absolutely glowing happy.

Also in Sevilla, Spain, Jillian has her date with Ed. I wonder if they'll run into Reid while strolling around. Do they lock the guys in their rooms? Ed is ready to let 'er rip. They go on a horse drawn carriage ride. Ed discusses his decision to leave and then return. They have the world's longest and possibly most boring conversation about his feelings on this matter, but it ends in a kiss, so all is well. ABC seems to have found a Spanish alternative for its cheesy romantic music. Ed and Jill sit down to have a drink at an outdoor cafe, and Jillian asks him about his family. After stating that she really wants to catch Ed up to the other guys, she admits that what she really wants to do is making out with him. And they don't waste any time. At one point, they walk through a fountain and just kiss. It's actually very romantic until you see other people watching them wondering what on earth they are doing. The Fiance says it looks like they are shooting a music video. He also thinks the fountain they are making out in is probably some historic garden that has been preserved for eternity until Jillian and her Ed can't keep their hands off of each other, probably leaving it worthless.

It's night time in Sevilla again and Jilli and Ed are in matching black and white outfits. They walk into a a beautiful old building and have a table set up at the top for drinks and food. Ed asks her what she thinks of moving to Chicago, which she is open to. Ed's got some big shoes to fill after her date with Reid, but he does so really well. His time apart from Jillian seems to have enabled him to realize just how strongly he feels for her. "I think that you and I would grow to really be with each other...I know enough about you to know that you are exactly what I look for...and we could be together for a long long time," says Ed. Could these words be any more magical to Jillian's ears? They seem to cover so much on this one drinks date - Ed's love of kids, moving to Chicago, etc., however, Jillian is still, at first, willing to turn down the fantasy suite with him. Ed states that having an overnight just means more time together. It doesn't take much convincing, because they go back there and once again can't keep their hands off each other. It's odd, however, that they never look into each other's eyes when they talk about their feelings for one another. Does anybody else notice this? Jillian then makes the decision to have the overnight with Ed, but tells him that they are sleeping with their clothes on. Ed whispers into her ear, "You're my favorite part about Spain." Cute.

For the last date with Wes, Jillian is in Barcelona. Wes is ready to "localize with the people." He thinks because one of his songs did well in Mexico, this means he has a connection with Spanish people. What an idiot. Jillian and Wes's relationship is very different than her relationship with the other three. She seems a little more subdued around him. The two of them go on a bike ride through the city. She is a little worried about his lack of affection around her. "Relationships are all about bend, nothing will break if they can bend...I guess only time will tell," says Wes. HUH? What on earth is he talking about? Is this a country song he's working on? Jillian has a lot of anxiety about what the hell Wes is saying. She's thinks their date is not very romantic. Jillian asks him where they would move if things progressed and they were going to make it work. Wes points out a bird missing a leg and then dumps his beer "by accident." This guy just wants to run back to his hotel where Laurel is probably waiting for him.

It's now night time and Jillian has got LOTS of blush to match her fuchsia strapless maxi dress. Jillian states that there is a clear lack of affection from Wes and she wants to figure out what's going on. Jillian once again brings up the whole girlfriend issue, which he once again denies. She then confronts him on whether he's on the show to promote his music which he admits to initially coming on the show for, but now says he wouldn't be there still if that was the only reason. Jillian's eyes are FINALLY starting to open just a little bit. She wants more affection from him. Wes then defends his lack of affection by saying - he doesn't like that she's with other four guys. "Numero Uno is most important here," says Wes. If there was a way that Jillian could dump him right there and then, I wish she would. Jillian asks him about Laurel. They have a totally awkward conversation about it where he doesn't give her a direct answer. Wes reads the date card inviting them to stay as a couple in the overnight fantasy suite and not surprisingly, he says, "I think we should..." It just became very clear to Jillian that Wes does have something to hide. She finally doesn't trust him.

Jillian killed a peacock, dipped it in black die and wore it to the rose ceremony this evening. At the rose ceremony, before Jillian gets there, Wes says to the other 3 guys, "If it's him (to leave) know that he'll be home having lots of great sex..." Is that with your dog, Wes? Or a human? Wes really is such an ass. Why one of the guys doesn't deck him in the face at this comment, I have no idea. Wes shows up in jeans and a suede jacket. He so knows he's going home. As The Fiance says: "Wes is not an asshole, he's a whole ass."

Roses go to: Ed and Reid

Wes congratulates Kiptyn before the final rose is given out. Kiptyn gets the final rose. No surprise here. Jillian goes to walk Wes out and he wants to say goodbye to the guys first telling them to "Have fun." Usually by the final 4, the guy/girl has fallen hard (last season it was Naomi with the dead dove funeral mom and she was devastated). You can tell Wes is REAL heartbroken. Wes admits in the limo that he's the first to make it to the final 4 with a girlfriend. He's psyched to go home to his dog, band and promote his new single. My question is this: was his family in on it too? Were they all deceiving Jillian? Or did they have a fake break up? Either way, what a creep.

The final three are off to Hawaii! The Fiance and I will have to pay special attention for potential honeymoon spots. There also seems to be some kind of twist coming up. We still have yet to see who is having issues in the bedroom and who is coming back to propose. Very odd. Either way, looks like Reid and Ed are well on their way to becoming the final 2, the Evil Jerk is gone and I am engaged! Life is good.

What did you think of tonight's episode? What are your thoughts on Wes? Will you buy his music? Where did you go on your honeymoon? Good night for now.
