Find out how The Husband celebrated his birthday and what the hell Ashley H was trying to communicate to Brad during their final date together. The dental student is heading back to Penn to finish her schooling. Perhaps if she can't win Brad's heart, she can at least clean his teeth?

Out of Africa: Goodbye to Ashley H!
Such drama on tonight's Bach. The most confusing part of the show was wondering what the hell was going on between Brad and Ashley on their date. It was like he was speaking German and she was responding in Japanese. When he finally started asking some real questions (first on their date, then again at dinner - then even the last ditch effort at the rose ceremony) - she completely shut down. I don't really understand why it was so hard for them to have a conversation.
Was THRILLED that Brad and Emily exchanged the forbidden reciprocated "L" bombs. Brad seems to be breaking all of the rules for Emily. This either means she wins it all (hopefully, now that a 5 year old is on the line) or they are just not showing us what he says in response to Chantal's "L" bombs. Hmmm.
Our video review will be up as soon as possible. In the meantime, I'm off to eat the very small remaining portion of The Husband's birthday cake before he does! My regular blog review post will be up tomorrow early evening. Sweet dreams and try not to have nightmares of Kirstie Allie and Wendi Williams - 2 of the newly announced contestants on Dancing with the Stars - terrifying choices!

Happy Birthday to The Husband; My Father Makes Contact With Shawntel (OMG!)
My adorable husband turns the big 34 today. When did we become 30 somethings? That was an age meant for adults. We're still kids.
For The Husband's birthday, I have a small surprise planned. We will be taking an exotic trip on our couch to South Africa, as we watch Brad woo the remaining three women. We don't even have to get vaccinated or jet lagged to go there. How convenient! We were up way too late last night (as usual) watching the Oscars. I was so excited for Natalie Portman on her win for Best Actress. How on earth she remembered all of the names of the people she thanked last night, I don't understand. As The Husband says: remarkable women win this award, and Natalie is no doubt remarkable. I loved Mila Kunis's dress (she is stunning) as well as Halle Berry's. I totally want to have a beer with Mr. Firth. He just seems like a fun guy.
Anne Hathaway and James Franco hosted the awards last night. I think we learned from their performances that just because you're young and attractive doesn't mean you're going to please the young demongraphic. When Billy Crystal came out I was really hoping that someone called him up and offered him $2 million to fly him to the Oscars to replace Anne and James. Funny appeals to all demographics. Unfortunately, Anne and James were not funny.
On a bright note, we had a wonderful fudge birthday cake special ordered from the very fancy Food Emporium down the block. We lit candles and sang during a commercial break last night. Tonight we will continue the festivities.
On a side note, my father has officially gone over the edge. I thought his obsession with The Bachelor was partially because his daughter writes a blog about the show and partially because it gives him something to do on Monday nights. But now I think he is actually caught up in all of the drama this season. He took the initiative of contacting Shawntel after her departure last week. The crazier part was that she responded. When he called me yesterday to proudly announce that he has a "new friend," I was in a taxi going to meet a friend in Madison Square Park. While I was guiding the cab driver to drop me off on Park and 26th Street, my father was reading me Shawntel's email note to him. He sounded just as proud as if one of his daughter's won the Nobel peace prize. I've created a monster. The good news is that Shawntel is considering doing an interview with me. I will keep you all posted.
Enjoy your trip to South Africa!
