Bachelor Blog Controversy, End of Season Being Crammed in All At Once!

Wow!! Thanks so much for all of the comments on my last blog post. I had no idea what controversy my blogging on this season of The Bachelorette has stirred up, but apparently people have very strong opinions about it, which makes me happy.  I can understand that Ashley's family and friends may not be too happy with any negative feedback related to Ashley's decisions and actions on this show.  But unfortunately, her poor judgment and ABC's editing of that poor judgement are the real culprits.  I'm just calling it like I see it.
Speaking of family, I'd like to wish a very happy birthday my wonderful mother and first cousin, Alex.  We're taking my mother out tonight in the city and hoping to run into JP or Ames.  I'm also hoping my cousin Alex, who is an adorable, smart and far more mature female that I was at age 20, will one day go on The Bachelor and tell me all about her experience.  That is, if the show is still around at that point.

My criticism of this season, has more to do with its comparison to seasons' past.  I love this show with all of my heart.  Just because I'm annoyed with this season doesn't mean I all of a sudden hate the show.  I put hours into running a blog just about this show - how could I feel otherwise?  My gripes with this season is that it is lacking in several areas.  Where is that spark, that drama, that Oooh Laa Laa feeling that made us all fall in love with the show in the first place?  I'm looking for a journey that starts with a hope to find true love and ends with an engagement that will last.  I want to see a woman believe in her ability to find/deserve love go out and have the time of her life.  I don't want to know by week 3 who are the only possible options out of the crowd that will be there at the end.  I want to be excited for the upcoming dates, surprised by the drama and to see the butterflies develop before my eyes.   I used to look at The Husband while he watched this show, and he'd get a cute little smile on his face when the very romantic parts of the show were revealed.  He'd laugh out loud at the side comments to the camera which were captured.  I haven't seen that smile on him or heard that laugh in a long time (at least not from watching the show).

Do you remember Ali and Roberto on the first night that they met? Roberto brought an extra baseball glove to have a catch with Ali.  Watching them play while she was in a gown was priceless.  Ali admitted she had a crush on Roberto and the feeling was mutual. Watching them together was magic.  They got flustered in front of each other.  They were literally glowing.  Then there was Frank, who Ali clearly lusted after, but he was pulling away.  And then we found out that he had a love interest back at home and to see that interaction filmed!!  We watched poor Ali get the surprise of her life when Frank flew half way around the world to break up with her  Then there was Chris Lambton and his amazing dad.  Ahhh, the glory days of The Bachelorette. I still smile when I think about them.  Will we ever get back to that place?

Emily took to Twitter yesterday declaring she didn't want to be the next Bachelorette.  Perhaps that will set us up for someone new to take on the role, or a runner up from the next Bachelor season.  I'm trying to get my Scottish work friend to apply for the job. She'd be a natural. Plus she'd give us the scoop.

So here's the break down for rest of the season:

Monday, July 18: Episode 8, Hometown Dates
Monday, July 25: Episode 9, Overnight Dates*
Sunday, July 31: "The Men Tell All" Special
Monday, August 1: The Finale; "After the Final Rose" Special

The Husband and I are taking a quick vacation and it happens to fall during the MTA / Finale - so hopefully I'll get access to a TV and the Internet during that time.  I'm not sure of the last time they scheduled the MTA for the day before The Bachelerette Finale, but perhaps ABC is trying to end the season as soon as possible so that they can move on to Bachelor Pad, which airs August 8th.  Rumor has it Bentley will not be back for the MTA, which will most likely make it one of the most boring MTA's of all time. Ah well. Perhaps they'll bring back Brad or Chantal again for updates.

Thanks again for all of your comments on this blog.  And yes, I am still working on my writing and hope to expand it shortly - so for those of you who are interested in reading more Stacey B stuff, stay tuned!  And please don't hesistate to contact ABC and Mike Fleiss to demand Stacey B & The Husband video recaps on their website.
