Today is my birthday. How on earth did I become 34? I think this is the last year that I can be considered a "youth." Of course this doesn't mean I'm past my prime if 38 year olds can still be The Bachelor. At least this is what I'm telling myself.
I'm happy to hear that on my birthday, Brad is with Emily and Ricki in Charlotte. I know this because I am stalking his Twitter feed. He arrived yesterday and will post a couple of pics soon on Twitter. He said he couldn't be happier. I have no idea why this makes me so happy.
Speaking of being way too emotional from other people's reality tv drama, did anyone else watch the results show of American Idol last night? I have to say, it might have been the most incredible results show in ten seasons. Seriously - Stevie Wonder comes out and sings "Happy birthday" to Steven Tyler? And then to see James Durbin's reaction to Hulk Hogan surprising him on stage after learning what a huge wrestling fan he is? I stood up and cheered - and actually was brought to tears - when Ryan Seacrest announced that Pia, Lauren and Scotty were safe (and going on tour this summer!). The Husband asked me if I was being serious or if I was acting. Sadly, this was not an act. I was just so happy for them! I was equally excited about Jacob, James and Chicken Arm guy. But seeing Casey Abrams in the bottom 3 - and then learning he was going to be sent home (over Pocahontas), was horrendous! I am a HUGE Casey Abrams fan. Casey and Scotty (and Jacob) are my favorite 3 guys. How can he not go on tour?? I thought it was hugely touching that the judges cut his "singing for his life" song short and said they were giving him the "save." It looked like Casey may have had a panic or heart attack at this news. He just got screwed with the voting because he performed first and everyone thought he was safe. Everyone vote for him next week (but don't forget about Pia, Lauren, Scotty and Jacob too!).
So that's about all. For my birthday, The Husband and I are heading off to see my sister's family, which includes my four nephews! We are doing a camp fire complete with s'mores and basketball watching. I am soooo excited! Wow, I'm this excited about a night out in the 'burbs. Maybe I am 34 afterall.
