Jake, Blake and All Things Fake

Help, Chris, I'm being attacked by a snake and fake boobs!
A few more observations from last night's show in no particular order:

1.  I found out that several lawyers I used to work with and a very senior lawyer that I currently work with can not tolerate Bachelor Pad this season.  They think the level of trashiness is far beyond watchability.  I find this somewhat surprising because if you take this show for the mindless entertainment that it is - there's nothing that remotely comes close on Monday nights.  And then there's my other lawyer friend Anna who has the courage to admit that Bachelor Pad is her new favorite show after just tuning in last night.  I'm with you, Anna.

2.   I'm still torn up about Blake.  Is he the bad boy that Melissa has him pegged as or is he just playing the game to win?  I think he just made the bad decision of partnering up with Melissa before he got a chance to know her.  There was no way Melissa would let him out of her grip without a meltdown or five.  And if Erica is your only alternative, well yikes.  So who would you have chosen to go on a date with?  Play it safe and stick with Melissa?  She seemed to think so.  Chris Harrison points out that the whole "He looked me in the eye and pinky swore," after he chose Holly, pretty much sums up the entire rationale behind Melissa's behavior: she never quite left 7th grade.   Were you sad watching Blake and Holly start to fall for each other?  I couldn't help but feel bad for Michael.  At the same time, when a date is THAT good, it's going to be hard to stop that momentum, especially with them all living together.  I'm not sure Michael can keep up with the Great First Date known as Blake.

3.  Mammoth Mountain looked like an incredibly fun place to go on a first date.  It was kind of funny watching Holly (who is 5 foot 9, btw!), go tumbling everywhere.

4.  Erica is ridiculous.  I know I've said this before but her tactics for trying to convince Jake and Blake to partner up with her had to be somewhat contrived.  She seemed really heartbroken that Jake left. For about 2 seconds before she moved on to Blake.

5.  The tooth brushing wait room.  I laughed for almost the entire 40 seconds that Blake made Melissa wait while he finished brushing his teeth to scold him.  Why she agreed to wait that long is part of the problem.  This poor girl would have partnered up with the mansion curtains if they showed the remotest sign of interest.

6.  With Jake gone, I thought it might get a little boring.  But Kasey's initial comment that he's a "strategist" and all of the ridiculous kissing / celebrating that he felt the need to do with Vienna after Jake left let us know quickly that the madness was not over.  Phew.

7.  I like that Michelle Money took the high road in not joining the kissing contest.  She's gotten so moral on us!  She must have been very confident that she'd be safe this week.  I guess Graham did not feel the need to excuse himself just because his lady interest/roommate withdrew.  So loyal that guy is.

8.  Michael & Holly.  Will this last?  Is it over?  From the previews we know Holly makes out with Blake again.  Does this mean it's over for the ex engaged pair?  Will Michael ever forgive himself for letting Holly go?  They definitely seem to have an intense connection but Holly may be blinded by the whiteness of Blake's teeth.

9.  Ella and Kirk's sad stories.  Ella's story about her mom getting killed in front of her at age 3, is horrible!! I hope that Kirk is actually interested in her because they seem to make each other happy and both have gone through a lot.

10.  Thank you to ABC for not bringing back Jeff the Mask Guy.  Instead, we got a healthy farewell to Melissa and William.  Melissa's crying in the limo was far worse than any break-up crying limo scene on this show.  I hope that she's happily on medication in whatever town she came from.
