A Happy Ending in Fiji...

I'm a sucker for a good, old school romantic Bachelorette ending like the one we saw tonight. I thought Ashley looked absolutely gorgeous in her finale dress and her hair half pulled back.  Who couldn't help get choked up when JP gave his speech to her and Ashley could finally confess her love?? Of course this doesn't take away my complete confusion for how she seemed to be into Ben F just a day before her engagement to JP and how amazing a playful chemistry the two of them had.  But ultimately, I think it comes down to a feeling - and clearly she had it bad for JP for a long time.

The sister threw a big wrench in their plans, and one that I don't think anyone could have foreseen.  We have definitely never seen a family member so opposed to one of the final 2 options in any season.  But I'm glad Chrystie came around in the end and gracefully admitted to being wrong after watching them together in each episode.  It was very clear from the time JP spent the night in his pjs with Ashley and her eyeglasses after Bentley left that he was a good guy - and that he was capable of maintaining a love interest with a real person doing real life things.

I've got to get some sleep, and The Husband thinks he's getting sick after spending 2.4 hours at the Cancun airport, 4 hours on a plane, 90 minutes in customs, and 40 minutes getting home from the airport.  It's been a long journey for us physically and now of course mentally with the season coming to an end.  As a result, my complete commentary on tonight's finale and the After the Final Rose will be up tomorrow.  Our final video review of the season will be posted tomorrow as well, assuming The Husband is still speaking to me after I forced him to watch 3 hours of this finale stuff after traveling over 8 hours to get home.

I think we'll wait to do the video until after I've spoken to Ashley tomorrow, so please keep your questions coming - I will definitely ask about ABC not showing her the Bentley comments and more about her future plans.  My call with Ashley is at 1:30 PM EST, so stay tuned.  I'm hoping JP and Ben F may join as they have in the past.

Perhaps Ashley and I will be neighbors.  I look forward to running into them on the street, at the gym or at the local diner.  NYC is a great place for a blossoming relationship.  I just hope that she has some friends here to support her through this major change.  JP was still madly in love at the After the Final Rose despite seeing all of her interactions with Ben F and the other guys so that's already light years ahead of where Brad and Emily were post finale.  Best of luck to the newly engaged pair!
