I just ran the beach in Puerto Morales, Mexico. It is not even 8 am yet here and that is the only time a human being can be outside in direct sunlight without being submerged in the ocean or pool. I think the heat index is about 111 here and as I am typing this in the business center, I am dripping sweat. The vision of beauty.
It is so hot here, that The Husband has found it difficult to walk from our air conditioned room to the 2 air conditioned restaurants at the resort here without arriving completely drenched. To that end, he was very willing to stay put last night in our amazing suite - so we ordered room service for dinner and watched all 2 hours of The Men Tell All with commercials and everything.
A few comments:
1.
We saw Ashley for a total of about 10 minutes last night. So in a full 2 hour show, the actual Bachelorette appearance was kept to a minimum. This is surely damage control on the part of the producers. I know the bachelorette usually comes out later in this episode, but we really didn´t get to hear much from her. For example, why didn´t we learn more about Constantine´s departure? He had one of more controversial exits and I wonder if his whole reason for leaving is that he just wasn´t attracted to Ashley? Shouldn´t Ashley want to know more about this? Also, why didn´t Ashley discuss or ask the one critical question that was on everyone´s minds: why didn´t ABC or the producers tell her what was going on with Bentley? If her answer is that she wouldn´t have believed them - why couldn´t they have shown her video clips of what he said? This still baffles me to this day and will be something that I ask her tomorrow.
2.
The DeAnna, Jason, Ali show. I love that they bring back former "successful" Bachelors/Bachelorettes to try and coach Ashley. DeAnna looks amazing - she is certainly wedding ready. I was not a fan of Ali´s clownlike outfit, but she is a very cute girl and it is always nice to see her. I loved that these people are preaching to Ashley that their journeys were all worth it because in the end they go to be with the people they were with. Mind you, DeAnna chose snowboarded Jesse over Jason Mesnick. That still has to be a little awkward whenever they stick Jason and DeAnna next to each other. Jason even got the ring and went down on one knee to propose to DeAnna. Ah, rejection. Perhaps it doesn´t sting as badly in Bachelor land?
3. Tim the Liquor Distributor. What is up with this guy? He makes a fool of himself on Night 1 of the show. He passes out from drinking too much and Ashley rightfully kicks him out. Now all of a sudden he´s giving commentary and shoveling out advice like he owns the place last night? I did enjoy his thick NY accent and his plug for JP, but otherwise this guy got more airtime than Constantine who was the second runner up.
4. William. This guy is still a worm in my opinion. I don´t care that he felt horrible and couldn´t even watch the season and his poor behavior. He´s still a complete jerk for saying those horrible things about Ashley and thinking they were funny. And the fact that he joined Bachelor Pad 2 confirms that he didn´t crawl into that dark hole for too long.
5. Michelle Money´s comeback. Wasn´t Michelle the picture of Mother Theresa godliness? She looked great, spoke well, and had the most common sense there. She even stuck up for Ashley and was spewing logical, practical thoughts about the Bentley situation. Speaking of the Bentley situation - leave it to ABC to promote the show using clips of Bentley in the false promise that he´d actually show up. I think the fact that he was universally hated was very much established last night. Now we can all move on with our lives until Bent shows up on the next Bachelor Pad.
6. Ames. The women loved this guy last night. Of all the guys, he would probably be most eligible to be the next Bachelor (besides the runner up of JP or Ben F). Of course Ames putting himself into the Bachelor Pad probably takes him out of the running for next Bachelor, particularly since it seems that he will be having an affair with Jackie from Brad´s season. If Jackie can land Ames, that is certainly like winning the lottery. I hope that she has the good sense to continue dating him at least through the US Open tennis season. Ames looked great last night. I loved his ruffled hair and his laid back demeanor. I wouldn´t say he´s gorgeous, but he has the best attitude of them all.
7. Ryan P. Oh poor Ryan. I´d say he´d be in the running for next Bachelor, especially since he did not join Bachelor Pad 2, however, once he started talking crazy (e.g., he read multiple books of questions to ask before you get engaged, etc.) I think he lost most viewers. I did love his reaction to watching himself discuss solar heaters though. At least he understood how odd that seemed. He´s a good looking guy and seems very genuine. I´m sure there are plenty of women out there who would grab this guy in a heartbeat.
8. Chris Harrison. In my next life I´m coming back at Chris H. This guy has the best job on the planet. He travels around the world with his wife for The Bachelor/Bacehlorette. Then he gets to host ridiculous shows like last night´s and then he´s off to Malibu to host Bachelor Pad. What a life!
9. Ashley´s new look. I liked her darker hair and she did seem very happy last night. I really hope that whoever she picked (and btw, thanks to ABC for ruining it for us by telling us that both JP and Ben propose - can they not keep anything a surprise? Might as well tell us who she picks too!) can get over the fact that she seems very much into both guys and can see marrying both of them. Why is it always like this with the final 2 and why do they urge two people to propose? Shouldn´t it be crystal clear which guy is the actual WINNER?
10. Tonight´s the End!! Congratulations to all you Bach fans for getting out of this season alive. We´ve made it. And after 3 hours of finale madness, it will all be behind us tomorrow. So forget about Men Tell All, because nobody really cares - and let´s focus our attention on tonight.
If anyone has questions for Ashley - please let me know. I´m speaking to her Tuesday afternoon.
Back to the beach to enjoy our last few hours of Mexico. Then it´s off to the airport. See you on the flip side! I´ll check in much later tonight!
