Last night, DWTS and more!

Hello there. So last night I went to "The Wedding Salon" which is basically a high end wedding vendor event where every possible kind of wedding vendor sets up a booth and provides information.  It's $50/couple to go.  Last night's event was at The Roosevelt on 45th and Madison in NYC.  Get Married (www.getmarried.com) put me on the "media" list to get in and then I was able to get The Boyfriend in as well.  Being part of the media (we felt so very cool), The Boyfriend and I received a tour of the place.  The event took place in the hotel's main ballroom - a two story wide open space with these surrounding nook areas.  The theme was supposed to be a million dollar wedding.

As I waited for The Boyfriend to meet me in the hotel lobby and watched bride after bride to be leave the event holding bags with business cards and flyers from every type of wedding vendor you could imagine, I wondered how long he was going to tolerate this.  Turns out, we had a great time - we talked with travel agents, a former Mormon that started a company giving out pole dancing lessons for bachelorette parties, wedding stylists, makeup artists, photographers.  We listened to a very loud band play for the entire event, watched a bridal fashion show and even checked out the Victoria's Secret lounge where there were bridal bathing suits.  We finally got to meet the President and Director of Marketing and Communications of Get Married.  They couldn't have been nicer.  We met Colin Cowie who was signing books.  Unfortunately, we had just missed DeAnna.  The entire event lasted from 4-9PM, but I couldn't get out of work before 7 PM.  Kind of bummed about that, but we had a great time anyway.

Besides meeting the Get Married folks, the highlight of the night had to be when The Boyfriend and I were explaining for the 17th time that no, we were not a bride and groom, that I had a blog about The Bachelor and we had hosted a videochat for Get Married's website.  We were telling this to a makeup artist and there were two women listening to us.  One of them was like, "I thought you guys looked familiar!" Turns out she had watched us on the videochat.  The first person to recognize us in the public world. We were thrilled!

As for DWTS, it's on the DVR and I will definitely watch and report back.  Tomorrow is my birthday, so it may be another day or so, but I will get to it.  It's the big 3-2.  I guess it's not that big.  31 was pretty great.  32 may even be better.  In either event, my birthday this year has GOT to be better than my birthday last year - I had the flu!  This is a picture of me at home, in my pjs.  The Boyfriend had gotten me two cupcakes from Crumbs (amazing!) - and I didn't leave the couch all day.  Here's to another year of writing and blogging!!
