Last night's DWTS was completely mesmerizing. I know this because I watched part of it while on the treadmill at the gym and for a few minutes I was able to forget how much I didn't feel like running and was swept away in the incredible athleticism and grace of the contestants. The girl next to me must have thought I was crazy because I was giddy as a school girl when Melissa's turn came. Although she looked like Minnie Mouse, she was both incredible with the flips and a smooth dancer - light on her feet and just so incredible to watch. She got two 10s and a 9 for her score - the second highest of the night. Jason is definitely crying in Seattle since all he has are Molly's beautiful eyes to comfort him from the loss of such an amazing talent as Melissa.
Ok, let's start with Chelsea and Ty. The Boyfriend thinks Chelsea is "hot" and I agree - she is very sweet looking. I like that she apologized to him for tripping on her dress last week, but Ty is the perfect gentleman and wouldn't let her take the fall (literally). Ty definitely has improved each week and I enjoy watching someone who really had very little dancing skills turn into a semi pro with a little training. Good for him.
Watching Steve Wozniak is increasingly more painful. I don't think he did anything last night. You know if there is a chair involved in a routine, the contestants are looking to kill some time. I've decided that sitting on a chair and moving your legs around does not count as dancing. The Woz barely moved the entire routine. If he makes it past tonight, it's solely based on his nerd charm. I have nothing against nerds, but this is a dance competition, not a science fair.
Holly Madison's giggle has got to go. Workout Barbie's days HAVE to be done tonight. There is just no way we can continue to watch her struggle. She claims she strained some muscles on her side or back. It's the implants, Holly! If she got rid of them, she'd have much less to carry around. I can barely watch her without getting angry. It's time send her back to the Playboy Mansion, or wherever ex playmates go.
Mr. Taylor was fun to watch, but never more fun than his seductive and exotic partner, Edyta. Seriously, who can even see what he is up to when Edyta is wearing a sparkly dress and is shaking her thing? She outshined him the entire evening. He may be in the bottom tonight.
David Alan Grier - one of my favorite movies with him was Boomerang. I think it's a cool idea that him and his partner went to a quick step club to see how the dance is done, but it certainly did not help him too much on the dance floor.
Derek and Lil Kim - it's like watching Tom and Jerry. He is so big, lanky and graceful - like a cat. She is a tiny little thing that moves fast. Kind of an odd combination, but they've managed to get decent scores.
I like Steve-O. He really gives it his all out there and I think him and Lacey are a great match. I liked that she brought in a clown costume for him to practice in and it seemed to help loosen him up a bit.
Julianne and Chuck - cute as a button. That's what this couple is all about. Not sure about him dressing up as a short order cook and her dressing up as a roller girl without the roller skates. But in any event, they had a solid routine as usual. It's hard for Julianne not to outshine Chuck - she's hard not to watch.
Onto Shawn - I loved that they showed her at a gymnasium doing her thing. Mark Ballas in spandex is just hilarious. Watching gymnastics to me is just mesmerizing on its own. I am not sure how a human being has the nerve to perform all of those dare devil tricks. I once read an interview with Shawn Johnson and she said her FAVORITE part of doing gymnastics is the dare devil element. She says the beam is her favorite. I have no idea how one would go about getting up on a beam and not only walk and breathe at the same time, but be able to do cartwheels, flips, etc. It's mind boggling. But the fact that Shawn could incorporate gymnastics into this week's routine was spectacular. The judges gave her kind of a hard time because they wanted more "dancing" and for her to be "light on her feet," but in reality - these two are the most entertaining to watch. One look at Shawn's little smile as she completes her dance steps, and it's impossible not to smile along with her. She was also wearing an outfit that exposed her midriff. For anybody doubting that this pint sized athlete is not 180% muscle - all you have to do is take one look at her last night. Her scores were not as high as they normally are, but still solid. Go Shawn!!
As for Gilles - holy cow. The tango or lambada or whatever they were doing was holy cow en fuego caliente! If Gill didn't have a following before this show, he certainly must now. Even The Boyfriend claimed that he couldn't tell who was the professional and who was the star (BEFORE one of the judges said the same thing). Completely entertaining. They are incredibly fun to watch. They received the first perfect score of the season - all 10s!!!
What's amazing about this show - is that the "Stars" include a line-up like Holly Madison (who is famous for her looks and for dating someone 50 years older than her), Melissa (who is famous for going on a reality show like The Bachelor) lined up against the caliber of someone like Shawn Johnson - who is really a world class, Olympic, best in the world gymnast. It's amazing the range of what a "star" can consist of.
My predictions: Holly is gone along with either The Woz or David Alan Grier.
